👋 Happy Sunday, Westminster
Hope everyone had a great Fourth. If you missed the Carroll County Farm Museum's finale, we've got you covered — watch the finale on Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok.
Though a big holiday is behind us, the good news is that July is still stacked with things to do: a free concert series starts today, the summer movie series rolls on, and next weekend Main Street goes Italian. Here's everything going on.
Let’s dive into it.
🎵 Free Sunday Concerts Start Today — Plus Free Pool Access 6–8 PM
Westminster Rec & Parks brings back its Summer Sunday Concert Series, with a different act and venue every Sunday in July, all free and open to the public from 6:00–8:00 PM. Tonight's opener is at the Westminster Municipal Pool with Baltimore rock band Luvable Idiots & Friends, and here's the kicker: pool admission is free for the full two hours alongside the show. A food truck and a snowball truck will be on site each week. Bring a chair, a blanket, and a cooler. Up next: Belle Grove Square (7/12), Dutterer Park (7/19), and Wakefield Valley (7/26).
🚀 SpaceX Cleared to Add Two Small Structures at Its Westminster Plant
Carroll County has issued permits for SpaceX to build a pair of small industrial structures at 1221 Independence Way, the Westminster Technology Park plant the company took over from Hexagon Purus earlier this year. Each is a modest 500-square-foot concrete building, about the footprint of a two-car garage, estimated at $200,000 apiece, with plumbing, electrical, and commercial-grade fire sprinklers.
🎻 Free Keynote: An Evening with Alice Gerrard — Monday, July 6, 8 PM
Common Ground on the Hill's Traditions Weeks returns to McDaniel College July 6–10 for its 32nd year, with 350+ roots-music, folk-arts, and dance workshops. You don't need to register for any of it to catch this highlight: on Monday, July 6, at 8 PM in Alumni Hall, roots legend Alice Gerrard delivers the week's keynote, which is free and open to everyone. Now 90, Gerrard traces her six-decade journey through American roots music with songs and stories, joined by fiddler Tatiana Hargreaves and mandolinist Reed Stutz, and will receive the Robert H. Chambers Award that night.

🛣️ Wondering What "Market Street Extended" Is? Watch This
There's been a lot of talk about Market Street Extended, a new road planned in Westminster that will connect Old Westminster Pike with Route 140, near the “tree streets” (Oak, Elm, Maple, Sycamore, Willow, Locust, and Spruce Avenues). Here’s a short video that explains what it is and what it would connect.
That's all until next time. Have a tip? Submit it here.
