A touring youth ensemble from Tallinn, Estonia, stops at the Carroll Arts Center this evening for a free, family-friendly concert open to the public. Although the show is free, advance registration is required, according to the Arts Center's event page.

Magic Strings, an international young violin ensemble, performs Tuesday from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the Carroll Arts Center, 91 West Main Street. The Westminster stop is presented by the Carroll County Arts Council and the City of Westminster, according to the arts council's event listing, and the broader tour is presented by World Artists Experiences in partnership with the Embassy of Estonia, according to a program distributed by the organization.

The ensemble was founded in 2012 at the Music School of the Old Town School of Tallinn, where violin teacher Tereza Šmerling and her students began playing together, according to the program. Ten members of the ensemble perform in Westminster, accompanied by pianist Karin Suss, according to the Arts Council.

Its repertoire spans classical, folk, film music and contemporary works, sometimes within the same concert, and has taken the ensemble to the Royal Albert Hall, Lincoln Center and a basilica in Florence, with tours across Europe, North America, Asia and Australia, the program says. Magic Strings has also expanded into studio recordings and music videos posted to YouTube.

Westminster is one stop on a run of Maryland performances this month. According to the tour program, Magic Strings also plays St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cumberland on Aug. 20, the Enoch Pratt Library in Baltimore and First Presbyterian Church of Annapolis on Aug. 21, Salisbury University's Great Hall on Aug. 22, and Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Arnold on Aug. 25.
