Unofficial results: Carroll commissioner, school board, sheriff and legislative vote totals
Election-night totals posted by the Maryland State Board of Elections include all 49 of Carroll County's Election Day precincts, early voting and the mail-in ballots counted so far. In the Board of Education race, where voters could pick up to three candidates for three seats, Marsha B. Herbert, Shannon Hinkhaus and Julie V. Walsh hold the top three spots at the moment, with Sharon Wilhide fourth, 777 votes behind Walsh. The totals also cover the contested commissioner races in Districts 1, 3 and 5, the sheriff's race and the District 5 and District 42 legislative races. Provisional ballots haven't been reported, and mail-in ballots postmarked by Election Day still count if they reach the local board of elections by 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 13.
Wireside Chats debuts on YouTube with Jake Fine of Fine Tuned Presents
Jake Fine of Fine Tuned Presents is the first guest on Wireside Chats, a new Westminster Wire series of conversations with people around town. Fine went from starting a live music club at McDaniel to booking original music all over Westminster, including a four-band punk show at Amy's Laundry that took off on social media. In the conversation, he digs into the town's music history, why he sees Westminster as a blank canvas, and what he’d tell anyone who wants to start something here.
