The City of Westminster Recreation & Parks Department is running two weekly cool-off events throughout July. Bumper boats at City Park and free snowballs in Downtown Westminster give residents low-key ways to beat the heat without spending a dime.

Bumper Boats at City Park

The bumper boat sessions run in City Park (11 Longwell Ave.) every Wednesday in July, with two-hour windows that alternate between morning and afternoon. July 2 kicks things off from 10 AM to noon, followed by July 9 from 1–3 PM, July 16 from 10 AM to noon, July 23 from 1–3 PM, and wrapping up on July 30 from 10 AM to noon. Children under 12 ride free, and participants are encouraged to wear swimsuits.

The event is free, but pre-registration is required. Spots can be reserved through the Westminster City Rec activity search page.

Free Snowballs Downtown

Also downtown, Rec & Parks will be giving away free snowballs every Tuesday in July from 12–1 PM on Locust Lane, right across from the Carroll County Public Library, Westminster Branch at 50 East Main St.

Sessions are scheduled for July 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29. Each session runs for just an hour, and no registration is needed.

While we’re talking about ways to cool off this summer, have you visited Exploration Commons at 50 East, located below the Westminster Branch of the Carroll County Public Library? They have 3D printers, a podcast studio, sewing machines, a professional teaching kitchen, and more. Check out this video walkthrough.
