The Carroll County Arts Council has received a full $30,000 grant from the Maryland State Arts Council for the Public Art Across Maryland project to implement the Envision Westminster mural.

Wesminster Mayor Mona L. Becker announced the grant during the April 13 Westminster City Council meeting. "The Carroll County Arts Council was awarded a full $30,000 public art across Maryland project grant from the Maryland State Arts Council to implement the Envision Westminster mural," the mayor said. "They received the full award that they could have for this project."

The mural is a partnership with the City of Westminster, designed to celebrate everyday life, landscape, and shared experiences that shape Westminster through a series of interconnected scenes.

According to Mayor Becker, "The artwork reflects recreation, family life, agricultural learning, and the historic character of our community, capturing what it means to live, work, and grow in the city."

The artwork will serve as a visual marker for downtown. "It will be a welcoming visual landmark along East Main Street and an enduring piece of public art for residents and visitors alike," Mayor Becker said.

The Public Art Across Maryland program, administered by the Maryland State Arts Council, supports public art projects that strengthen communities across the state.
