A series of public records and recent job postings show that SpaceX, Elon Musk's aerospace company focused on reaching Mars, has established a facility in Westminster, Maryland.

Carroll County's public permitting portal shows that two new commercial building permits were filed on April 21, 2026, for 1221 Independence Way in the Westminster Technology Park. Both permits describe new concrete masonry buildings and identify the project name as "SpaceX,” with a parenthetical noting the site was "previously Hexagon Purus Masterworks." Both permits are currently in "Applied" status, meaning they have been submitted but not yet approved.

The Westminster Technology Park address was previously home to Hexagon Purus Masterworks, a subsidiary of Norwegian aerospace supplier Hexagon Purus that manufactures composite pressure vessels used in rockets and spacecraft and has a documented relationship with SpaceX as a supplier.

In February of this year, Hexagon Purus Masterworks entered into an agreement to divest its aerospace business to SpaceX. An individual at the 1221 Independence Way address confirmed that SpaceX now occupies the space formerly occupied by Hexagon Purus Masterworks. A lone, generic “X” is posted on the front desk in the lobby, and there is currently no company signage on the building.

Multiple Job Openings Point to an Active Operation

A LinkedIn post from three weeks ago by Donald Lord, who lists his title as "Operations at SpaceX," stated plainly: "SpaceX Westminster is looking for world-class welders, NDE inspectors, quality inspection, and an office manager to help build the most powerful rockets in the world."

Lord's post linked to four open positions, including a Quality Inspector (Starship), a direct reference to SpaceX's next-generation rocket program, as well as openings for welders, NDE (Non-Destructive Examination) inspectors, and an office manager.

The Office Manager listing on LinkedIn, posted by SpaceX's verified company account, confirms the Westminster, MD location and describes responsibilities that include coordinating with construction and facilities teams, managing quality audits, and handling ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) compliance.
