The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin repaving MD 27 (Liberty Street/Railroad Avenue) through downtown Westminster this weekend, according to a notice the agency asked the City of Westminster to post to its Alert Center on Aug. 28. Work on the one-mile stretch between Tuc Road and Bond Street starts Sunday, Aug. 30, at 8 p.m., and the project is expected to be complete by mid-October, weather permitting, the notice says.
That stretch of MD 27 runs through the heart of downtown, carrying Liberty Street and Railroad Avenue past King Park and the retail and restaurant blocks between Tuc Road, near Longwell Avenue on the north end, and Bond Street to the south.

Overnight schedule through mid-October
According to the notice, crews will work Sunday through Thursday nights, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning. SHA describes the work as a mobile operation, meaning crews will change locations along MD 27 as they complete different segments rather than closing the full mile at once.
One lane will be closed in active work zones, and street and shoulder parking will be restricted in those areas, the notice says. A flagging operation will maintain two-way travel through the work zones.
