A new wine bar is coming to downtown Westminster. The Double Barrel Tasting Room at 73 W. Main Street aims to open this fall and will be the first establishment in Carroll County to feature an automated pouring system, according to co-owner Ashley Ratino, who is starting the business with her husband, James.

Situated on the right side of a two-unit commercial building adjacent to RockSalt Grille, The Double Barrell will feature 24 taps offering 0.5-ounce, 2.5-ounce, and 5-ounce wine pours, a format designed for guests to sample without committing to a full glass.

Ratino said the concept is built around variety and accessibility. "We will have a constant rotation of wines that support small, family-owned, and unique wines with a small selection of local wineries as well," she said. "We want each experience to be different, and we want wine to be approachable."

Wine is the headline, but it isn't the whole menu. "In addition to wine, we will have beer, mocktails, and iced coffee," Ratino said. Ratino says there will be "charcuterie munchies too for retail." Bottles will also be available for retail purchase for off-site consumption.

The Ratinos plan to host wine classes on a bi-monthly schedule, and the space will be available to rent for private events once the doors open.

The second unit in the building, located to the left of The Double Barrel, will be a photography studio, according to an Instagram comment by the building’s owner, @rentalpropertycouple.
