If you've ever wanted to fly a remote-control plane, the Westminster Aero Modelers Club is handing over the controls for free on Saturday, May 9, 2026.
The club's Spring Open House Community Event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Baughers Field, 2017 Valley View Orchard Rd, New Windsor, MD 21776. Admission is free, the event is family-friendly, and all ages are welcome.
What to Expect
Free Hands-On Intro Flights — Take the controls and fly an R/C plane alongside a club instructor. No experience necessary.
Club Flight Demonstrations — Experienced pilots will showcase a variety of aircraft with fast-paced demonstrations.
Static Airplane Displays — Up-close looks at everything from scale models to high-performance planes.
Food & Refreshments — Food, snacks, and drinks available; donations accepted.
Demo Schedule
The club has a set demo schedule throughout the day:
11 a.m. — Jets and Limbo
12 p.m. — 3D flying
1 p.m. — Glider and helicopter demo
If the weather doesn't cooperate, the club says they'll have a flight simulator on hand so visitors can still try the controls.
