Three of Westminster's summer water staples are open and ready this weekend. The forecast may not cooperate, though. But when the rain moves in, there are some solid indoor options, too.

The Local Pool Scene for Memorial Day and Beyond

The Westminster Municipal Pool kicks off its 2026 season at 325 Royer Road, open noon–7 p.m. daily through Labor Day, except on days when public schools are in session. Daily admission is $15 for city residents and $20 for non-residents (ages 14+); $12/$15 for kids ages 3–13; children 2 and under are free with a paid adult.

If you plan to go more than a handful of times, a season pass works out to far less: $185/individual or $360/family for residents ($275/$495 for non-residents). A 10-visit punch card runs $125 (resident) / $175 (non-resident).

The Westminster Riding Club also opens this weekend for its 2026 season, running noon–9 p.m. daily (with "Super Saturdays" until 9:45 p.m.) through Labor Day. The swim-and-social club, with a 25-meter main pool, diving pool, water slide, and beach volleyball court, lifted its waitlist for this summer and still has memberships available.

For families who are YMCA members, the Hill Y at 1719 Sykesville Road has an outdoor splash pad running Saturday and Sunday, 10:30 a.m.–6:15 p.m. (weekday hours are 11 a.m.–7:30 p.m.). The center is open on Memorial Day but closes at noon, so plan accordingly. They also have an indoor pool for swimmers looking to dodge the weather.

The Memorial Day Weekend Forecast

Saturday, May 23, brings showers all day with a high near 55°F — the kind of day that answers the "should we go to the pool" question before you even ask it. Sunday, May 24, improves somewhat, with a high near 71°F, but showers are still likely (70% chance) with thunderstorms possible in the afternoon. Memorial Day, Monday, May 25, looks better in the morning — the Westminster parade steps off at 10 a.m. downtown before any storm activity is expected — but clouds return in the afternoon with another 50% chance of showers and storms by 2 p.m. The National Weather Service is forecasting the corridor could see 1–2 inches of rain over the weekend.

Grass athletic fields across the county will likely be closed or unplayable through the holiday. It's worth noting that it won't always be the case: Carroll County's first publicly available turf field is currently under construction at Carroll Community College. Built to drain quickly and stay playable even in weather that shuts down natural grass, the field is expected to be completed this year.

Moving the party indoors when the rain won’t go away

If you're looking for something to do this rainy weekend, here are three indoor options right in Westminster. Definitely reach out to these locations to confirm schedules and availability before heading out the door.

R/C Westminster Movies 9

R/C Westminster Movies 9 at 400 N Center Street (inside TownMall) has seven films running all weekend, including Memorial Day. Family picks include The Sheep Detectives (PG, 94% on Rotten Tomatoes) and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie (PG). Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu (PG-13) is the obvious big draw, with showtimes from morning through evening. Other options include Obsession (R, 95% on RT) and The Devil Wears Prada 2 (PG-13). Showtimes run roughly from 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. daily.

The Fun & Fit Factory

Also inside TownMall, The Fun & Fit Factory at 400 N Center Street, Suite 12 is 20,000 square feet of indoor play — bounce houses, basketball courts, ride-on cars for younger kids, and a small arcade area. It's a walk-in operation. Open Saturday 11 a.m.–8 p.m. and Sunday noon–5 p.m. Note: the Factory is normally closed Mondays through Thursday, so Memorial Day is likely not an option.

City Park Gaming & Brew Room

For adults or families looking for something a little different, City Park Gaming & Brew Room (CPGB) at 133 E Main Street offers a large selection of craft beer on tap, board games, and a relaxed indoor atmosphere. It's the kind of spot that fits a rainy holiday weekend without requiring a reservation or a plan — just show up, grab a drink (they have sodas for the kids), and find one of their free demo games to take off the shelf and play. They have packaged snacks and also allow you to grab food from nearby restaurants and bring it in. CPGB celebrates its fifth anniversary on June 6 with an all-day party featuring live music and featured breweries.
