First of all, Happy Top Gun Day! Both films are landing at RC Westminster today as part of Paramount's nationwide 40th anniversary run. Top Gun: Maverick takes off at 4 p.m. today, the 1986 original at 7 p.m. tonight. They'll both be in town through May 21.
What’s more of a throwback than seeing the original Top Gun in a mall? A local brewery says, “Hold my beer…do you like Gilmore Girls?”
On Thursday, Pub Dog’s Westminster location hosts Gilmore Girls trivia at 6:30 p.m. Check out details on that, Matilda the Musical, Jr. at Carroll Arts Center, Gotham Comics 23rd anniversary events, and more in this issue of the Wednesday Wire.

☕ Gilmore Girls Trivia at Pub Dog Westminster — Thursday, 6:30 p.m.
The Pub Dog Westminster (1203 New Windsor Road) taproom is all about Stars Hollow this Thursday, May 14, at 6:30 p.m. with a full night of Gilmore Girls-themed trivia. You’ll find food, drinks, prizes, and an all-ages crowd of fans who can recite "Coffee, coffee, coffee" on cue. If Thursday doesn't work, our Westminster trivia night guide has a list of quiz nights around town throughout the week.
🌱 Master Gardener Plant Sale — Saturday, 8 a.m.–Noon
The University of Maryland Carroll County Master Gardeners hold their annual Plant Sale and Garden Flea Market on Saturday, May 16, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Carroll County Ag Center (700 Smith Ave.). You’ll find volunteer-grown perennials, annuals, herbs, heirloom tomatoes, and native trees and shrubs, plus Master Gardeners on hand to answer questions. Cash and checks only; bring your own boxes. Volunteers will help carry plants to your car.
🎭 Matilda the Musical, Jr. at Carroll Arts Center — May 15 & 16
Local elementary students take the stage at the Carroll Arts Center (91 W. Main Street) for Roald Dahl's Matilda the Musical, Jr. — Friday, May 15, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, May 16, at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. The Broadway Junior adaptation follows whip-smart Matilda as she stands up to the tyrannical headmistress Miss Trunchbull, with help from her teacher Miss Honey. Tickets are $6–$8 through the Carroll County Arts Council or by calling the box office at 410-848-7272.

It's Top Gun Day, as both films land at RC Theatres at TownMall, as part of Paramount's nationwide 40th anniversary run. Top Gun: Maverick (2026 re-release) plays at 4 p.m. ($12 / $10 kids and seniors) today, and the original 1986 Top Gun takes off at 7 p.m. ($14 / $11). Both films run through May 21.
